We stand at a cultural crossroads, the intersection of the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death. At this critical juncture, the choices we make matter, now and forever. Therefore, the members of Life is Worth Living, a lay apostolate, have chosen to promote the Culture of Life.

Our mission is to strive to affirm -- in thought, word, and deed -- the infinite preciousness of human life; to encourage service to others rather than radical self-interest; and to promote a climate of public opinion that recognizes the right of all human beings to life, respect, compassionate care, appropriate medical treatment, and equality under the law.

URGENT APPEAL: HELP DEFEAT THE WASHINGTON ASSISTED SUICIDE INITIATIVE

Initiative 1000 is a proposal to legalize assisted suicide in the state of Washington. Nightly polls are showing that the No on I-1000 campaign is not only in a dead heat with the proponents' campaign, but is actually pulling ahead! With your help, this dangerous initiative CAN BE DEFEATED.

Opponents of assisted suicide are making gains because of their media campaign. TV and radio ads, especially those featuring the actor Martin Sheen, are alerting voters to the dangers inherent in a state endorsing assisted suicide as a medical treatment.

More money is needed to continue these ads in the last week of the campaign. Even small donations will make a big difference in getting the truth about assisted suicide to Washington voters in time.

Also, Margaret Dore, a lawyer and very active member on the No on I-1000 campaign, is asking people to write opposition letters to Washington publications and on-line blogs. It doesn't matter if you are not a Washington resident.
If you or anyone you know would be interested in donating to this urgent cause or in writing letters, please contact Julie Grimstad at juliegrimstad@yahoo.com.
